The RSPCA is investigating after two guinea pigs were left out on a road dumped in a carboard box. A member of the public found the box as she was putting out their wheelie bins and immediately alerted the animal protection charity.

Now named Horace and Spike, they are said to be doing well after treatment. The RSPCA said it suspects their owners either didn't have the correct expertise to care for them - or were struggling with the cost of keeping them.
