EXCLUSIVE: A cult favorite supernatural drama is eying a comeback. Peacock is developing a reboot movie of the 2011 NBC series Grimm, sources tell Deadline.

Drop Dead Diva creator Josh Berman is writing the new take, which he is executive producing with the original series’ creative team, co-creators/executive producers and showrunners David Greenwalt and Jim Kouf, producer Lynn Kouf, Sean Hayes and Todd Milliner’s Hazy Mills Productions and Universal Television.

The exact premise of the Grimm movie is kept under wraps. It is believed to have ties to the original series for diehard fans but could also be easily accessed by new viewers not familiar with the mythology.

In success, the followup could launch a franchise, I hear. The original series followed Portland Homicide detective Nick Burkhardt (David Giuntoli), who discovered he is a Grimm, the latest in a line of guardians who are sworn to keep the balance between humanity and mythological creatures.
