Greg Kiltie insists he’s ready to fight for his place in Paisley after wrapping up a new two-year deal with St Mirren. The playmaker first linked up with the Saints from Kilmarnock in June 2021 and has made 47 appearances in the stripes so far.

The 25-year-old, who netted his seventh goal for the club in their 3-1 win against Aberdeen on Christmas Eve, says he’s determined to become an even more important figure at the SMiSA Stadium after securing his long-term future.

He told stmirren.com: “It was straightforward decision for me when it all came about. I love the squad we have and everything about the place so I’m just delighted that it’s done.“It’s nice to have the off the pitch matters settled and I can focus on the pitch and kicking on.

I think we have a really good group here and we can kick on this second half of the season.“I would like to have played more this season, but it’s a strong squad and everyone is fighting for places which is a good thing for the team going forward.”Saints boss Stephen Robinson believes the Buddies are going to get the best out of the former Scotland under-19 star as he heads into the peak years of his career.Robinson said: “He’s somebody that we want to be part of what we are doing.
