Green Wing looks like it could be about to get a revival on television, 17 years after the show ended. The hit Channel 4 series first hit screens in 2004 and ran for two seasons before coming to an end in 2007.

It followed the lives of staff at a fictional medical centre called East Hampton Hospital, where surreal and unusual incidents occurred. The sitcom was created by Smack The Pony producer Vicky Pile and starred Tamsin Greig and Mark Heap of Friday Night Dinner, along with comedian Stephen Mangan and Fleabag star Olivia Colman. Now, in a new interview with Radio Times, the show’s writer and creator Pile surprised fans with news that the writing team behind the show had recently discussed the possibility of a revival.“We are debating [a revival],” she told the publication, adding: “I’m about to email everybody and see how they feel about it.

So, yeah, we’re contemplating what we could do.”Pile went on to admit that “somebody had asked me if I would do another Green Wing, and I said no,” before adding: “if I did [bring it back], it would be with Channel 4.”The ending of the show centred on a literal cliff hanger, with the show’s main characters on the run from the police.

After a chase, the camper van they’re travelling in ends up hanging over a cliff edge.Earlier this year, the show had another surprise revival via an Audible audio reboot. The six-part revival of the show was titled Green Wing: Resuscitated and came ahead of the 20th anniversary of the release of the first series.
