The Green Party have launched their general election manifesto, with promises to stop “all new fossil fuel projects”, overhaul the tax system and give “rights to nature itself”.
The Greens have also promised introduce a new wealth tax that could raise up to £70bn. Party co-leaders Adrian Ramsay and Carla Denyer pledged to 'mend broken Britain' by overhauling the tax system.
They said that the climate crisis has been 'pretty much absent from this election campaign so far' and pitched a new carbon tax to drive down emissions.
According to the party, the new wealth tax on multimillionaires and billionaires could be used to fund improvements to health, housing, transport and the green economy.
