Anyone heading to or currently holidaying in Greece has been issued a fresh travel warning from the Foreign Office. On Wednesday, September 20, a new alert was posted on the government department's site, which aims to keep travellers to and from the UK safe in other countries where there may be danger or disruption. The new warning was about potential disruption in Greece this week due to a general strike, which officials say may affect services like public transport and health services. The advice reads: "Ferries may be affected and many airports may closed.

Check with your transport provider if you are planning to travel by sea or air on 21 September. Buses and Metro services may also be affected."Hospital staff are supporting the strike, but emergency services will operate.

Consult your hospital directly should you have an appointment planned on September 21. Protests are scheduled across the country with two major rallies scheduled in Athens."Liverpool Echo reports that these types of strikes, which are often called without much time to prepare, can cause delays and disruption to public transport - including air travel.

To stay safe, the Foreign Office has also recommended that tourists should avoid any demonstrations or protests when it's possible.
