Greater Manchester brewery to open its doors for first time as it launches beer festival

One of Greater Manchester's most historic breweries is preparing to give beer lovers a 'once-in-a-lifetime' opportunity to go behind the scenes as part of an inaugural beer festival.

Joseph Holt will be welcoming members of the public inside as it hosts a beer festival to celebrate its 175th anniversary at its brewery on Empire Street in Cheetham Hill.

Visitors to the festival will be able to enjoy a full range of beers as well as a broad selection of ales and lagers from different breweries across the UK.

Taking place on 20-21 September, The Joseph Holt beer festival 2024 will also include a series of first-time brewery tours. They will offer a bird’s eye view into the famous workings of historic brewery, which has been in the same family for six generations. READ MORE: 'Dark times' as Mancunians express shock after 'greatest bar in Manchester' suddenly closes “This is the first time we have held a beer festival on our premises and held public tours around the brewery,” explains Andrew Kershaw from Joseph Holt, who is the sixth-generation family member to work for the company. “With so much history tied up with the site of the brewery it was the obvious place to hold the festival and so celebrate Joseph Holt`s rich history and our 175th anniversary.
