A brave husband punched a shark to save his wife's life after it mauled her while the couple were surfing. Mark Rapley, and his wife, Christine Doyle, were enjoying a day at Shelly Beach in Port Macquarie, on the mid-north coast of Australia, when the attack occurred at 9.30am on Saturday morning.
The young great white shark had swum under Christine and grabbed her right calf and the back of her thigh from below while she was in the water with her surfboard.
Seeing his wife was in severe distress, Mark paddled over to the shark and leapt on its back, punching it repeatedly until it finally let Christine go.
