Former Grange Hill star George Armstrong, best known for his role as Alan Humphries in the hit TV show, has sadly died at the age of 60.

The actor, who had been battling Leukaemia for some time, passed away on July 11. The news of Armstrong's passing was shared on Twitter by a dedicated Grange Hill fan account.

In a heartfelt message, they wrote: "I've just heard the very sad news that George Armstrong aka Alan Humphries passed away yesterday.

RIP George. A true Grange Hill legend xxxx." Devastated fans took to the comment section to express their grief and pay their respects to the late star.
