Gran 'disgusted' by 'chunky girl' look has epic transformation and is now fitness star

TikTok followers.As a mum and recent grandmother, Emma’s lifestyle hasn’t always been so healthy, and like many others, the 47 year-old found her health spiralling at points during lockdown.READ MORE: Fitness star praised for flaunting 'mum bod' in candid gym snapBut, since changing her lifestyle, the Brit’s fitness journey has attracted more than 6,700 followers and 68,000 likes on TikTok, where she uploads videos of precarious balances and shows off her admirably toned physique.And, speaking exclusively to Daily Star, Emma opened up about how the comments she receives from strangers online have helped her to turn her life around.“I was really unfit, I’d gone up to nearly a size 14, and I was just out of puff walking upstairs and I thought, ‘you’re disgusting’," she recalled. “So I took myself off and joined a gym, and started doing body combat classes… It was time to focus a little bit on me instead of kids.“I couldn’t even wear long boots, they wouldn’t go up over my calves, I was just a chunky girl so I didn’t feel great.” But, without an understanding about nutrition, Emma remembered that she had struggled to shift her weight at first.After beginning with yoga, Emma soon discovered calisthenics (strength training exercises that rely on a person’s body weight) and quickly became obsessed.Now 47, Emma is a grandmother to two young children and even makes time for exercise while visiting them.“When I post on TikTok and I put my age, I do get comments going, ‘you’ve just inspired me, I thought it was too late’.“A lot of people have hung their boots up thinking that doing anything that’s quite as out there as what I do is an impossibility… So it’s great that just posting a little video can spark something in.
