BBC primetime quiz show may have had its chips – after a disastrous drop in ratings. The potty-mouthed chef's Bank Balance first aired last Wednesday with 2.7million viewers tuning in but this figure slumped to 1.6million by Friday.BBC bosses have taken a huge gamble with the 10-part show, putting it on in the prime 9pm slot for three nights a week.
A source at a rival broadcaster said: “You can’t be impressed with those numbers. Even if they wanted to stick him in an earlier slot their hands are tied because of the swearing.” The show was commissioned after recent hits with Michael McIntyre’s The Wheel, which gets more than five million viewers, and Danny Dyer’s The Wall, which pulls in about four million.
