Gordie Mutch secures "one of the best" wins in his career in Belgium

Gordie Mutch secured one of the biggest wins in his racing career in Belgium at the weekend.The talented 20-year-old from Lockerbie took part in the Classic Spa 6 Hours at the world-famous circuit.He, along with team-mates Alasdair McCaig and Andrew Smith, drove John Clark’s Jaguar E-type to victory in the GT class and came 10th overall.Mutch said: “The whole weekend was absolutely fantastic.“That’s got to be one of the best wins in my career.

I’ve driven Spa before in the Ginetta series in 2018 so it has been a while.“But I’ve never driven in the dark or in the rain at Spa before.

So it was an awful lot of fun in the car.“I drove the middle sector for two hours and 15 minutes so I went from day time to night time during my session.

It was challenging but I loved it.”After arriving in Belgium on Wednesday, testing and qualifying took place over Thursday and Friday with Mutch and co in fifth place.Alasdair McCaig started the day and brought the car back in fifth place before handing over to Mutch.
