Gogglebox stars June Bernicoff and Leon won the hearts of the nation with their love story. They were married for 57 years until Leon died after 10 days in hospital in December 2017.

Just three years on, June has died surrounded by her family at her home earlier this week. Their love spanned more than three decades of their lives.

But in the early days, their romance was rocked by their different religious upbringings. It goes all the way back to when the couple first crossed paths at teacher training college in 1955.

June was just 18 years old when the lovebirds set their sights on each other for the first time. Their first date was a trip to the movies in Crewe following their chance meeting.
