Greater Manchester Police have issued a full statement after a video clip surfaced showing an armed officer kicking a man in the head during an arrest at Manchester Airport.

The clip, which was swiftly shared widely on social media, was filmed at the airport on Wednesday afternoon (July 24). Police have said they were called to an 'altercation' between members of the public in Terminal two, before the officers were subjected to a 'violent assault' while trying to make an arrest. Police said a female officer was left with a broken nose and that the other officers were hospitalised. The force also said that there was a risk of the armed officers' 'firearms being taken'.

The force's statement in full read: “Officers were called to reports of an altercation between members of the public in Terminal 2 at Manchester Airport. “Whilst attempting to arrest one of the suspects of the earlier altercation, three officers were subject to a violent assault, where they were punched to the ground.
