A trainee Greater Manchester Police officer accused of sexually assaulting a female colleague told a jury that he believed the alleged victim had “embellished” her story, due to being upset with him.
PC Ryan Pointon is alleged to have put his hand high up on the inside of the woman’s thigh and squeezed, while giving her a lift home.
It is claimed that he did so after making inappropriate sexual remarks to her. Pointon, 29, of The Meadows, Prestwich, denies committing sexual assault.
He told a jury at Liverpool Crown Court that it was the third time he had given the woman, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, a lift home and they were just chatting on the trip as usual.
