The 55-year-old television presenter was speaking from experience as he geared up to accept the award for GQ TV Personality of the Year.
Writing in his Daily Mail column, the dad of four revealed that the latest nomination was a 'double-edged sword' because he had actually lost two jobs in the past after winning.
When he was notified of this year's nomination, Piers even considered whether he might be in for a third stroke of bad luck.
