Dr Hilary Jones told Good Morning Britain hosts Piers Morgan and Susanna Reid the sad news that he has been personally affected by Covid hospital restrictions.

Piers read out the story of a woman who's grandmother broke her hip, and her mother had just 15 minutes to visit her grandmother in hospital to tell her that her husband of 57 years had died.

Piers said: There’s a certain inhumanity to all this, which I know is driven by Covid, but does it makes sense?" Hilary replied: "It’s a situation that has touched me personally this this weekend.
