GLOW fans fume as Netflix releases new wrestling show trailer

Netflix has released the full trailer for its latest female-led wrestling show - but fans appear distracted. The streaming giant has released a number of wrestling dramas over the years, including 2017's GLOW and more recently, Sanctuary, which dropped last summer.

Meanwhile, new series Queen of the Villains is set to make its debut later this month. The limited series is based on the true story of Dump Matsumoto, the most terrifying “heel” during the golden age of women’s pro wrestling in Japan.

Spanning five episodes, the series explores the events that led to her rise decades ago. Comedian Yuriyan Retriever portrays Dump Matsumoto, while Erika Karata and Ayame Goriki also star.

From the ‘70s to the ‘80s, female pro-wrestling tag teams like “Beauty Pair” (Jackie Sato and Maki Ueda) and “Crush Gals” (Chigusa Nagayo and Lioness Asuka) became national icons.
