Global box office projected to hit $33billion in 2025

It would put 2025 down 14 per cent against the average of the last three pre-pandemic years at historic exchange rates, and three per cent behind 2023.

However, if re-calculated using the current exchange rates, 2025 would come in one per cent ahead of 2023.Gower Street has North America finishing nine per cent up on 2024 at around $9.7billion, with the international market, excluding China, expected to be seven per cent ahead of this year at approximately $16.8billion.

China is projected to hit $6.6billion, but it’s difficult to predict with the country’s market becoming less reliant on Hollywood releases.Dimitrios Mitsinikos, CEO of Gower Street Analytics, said: “2025 is set to be a strong year for the global box office, fueled by robust studio slates and independent productions.
