Glasgow's Elfingrove closes down temporarily due to technical issue

Glasgow's Elfingrove has shut down due to a technical issue after it opened in the city. The event's creator said today there was an issue with the marquee, and would close temporarily to the public as a precaution due to health and safety.Elfingrove opened on Thursday as the start of a month-long run in Glasgow, with event organisers describing it as a world-class ice experience to "rival the great cities of the world".

Based at Kelvingrove Art Gallery and Museum, Elfingrove features a fully covered ice rink, snow wheel, skate side dining, a skate bar, a dedicated toddler rink and the chance to skate with Santa.

Full refunds will be provided to anyone who booked for today. It is not yet known when the event will reopen.Oli Norman, CEO of itison and Elfingrove creator, said: “We have been planning Elfingrove for a long time; we love bringing such a magical festive event to the city, and it's been great to see people enjoying the show the past couple of days.“Unfortunately, due to a technical issue with the marquee we have had to close the event temporarily, as a precautionary measure.“Despite our planning and engineering things like this happen that are out of our control, and we are heartbroken to be disappointing everyone due to come along today.“The marquee company is on site and doing everything needed to fix the issue to ensure the event can reopen again as soon as possible.
