Anton Du Beke, 56, is now a judge on Strictly Come Dancing - and he is relieved that he no longer has to be part of the performances on the dance floor himself. The former ballroom star has now confided exactly why he "hated" aspects of being part of the team of professional dancers on the BBC show.Discussing the thorny issue with Olympian snowboarder Aimee Fuller over a game of golf, he admitted that - in spite of having performed on the show for almost two decades - he still can't stand his memories of being in the dance-off."I've always hated that bit, so I'm delighted that I don't have to be a part of it anymore," he admitted on Aimee's podcast, Monday Mile."It's always the part of the show I've disliked the most, where somebody's got sent home - invariably the bit where I've got sent home, with my partner. "Describing the process as "brutal", he added: "I know it's not about me, but I'm [still] very disappointed."He added that, after 18 series, he had been in the position of the loser "on more occasions than I've cared to remember".However, he believes that the life experience has made him adept at understanding what the celebrities, who he feels more concerned for than the pros, are going through when it's crunch time."I have absolute empathy with them and I know exactly how it feels and where they're coming from," he elaborated."I try to give criticism that they can use moving forward, so I try not to dwell too much on what's happened before."Meanwhile, despite no longer participating in pro dancing himself, Anton bragged that he feels he still has a "magnificent physique" - especially for his age.He has also admitted he felt "delighted" when he was awarded the runner-up position in one of Heat Magazine's Secret.
