Girls Aloud star Nadine Coyle shares band's reunion plans after Sarah Harding's death

Girls Aloud are planning a reunion to honour their bandmate and friend Sarah Harding following her death last year. The singer, who grew up in Stockport, tragically died aged 39 in September after being diagnosed with cancer.

Sarah told fans in August 2020 that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer, which had spread to other parts of her body. Her mum Marie then announced Sarah's death on Instagram and described her "beautiful" daughter as "a bright shining star".

Her Girls Aloud bandmates, who shot to fame on Popstars: The Rivals in 2002 after being put together on the show judges by Pete Waterman, Louis Walsh and Geri Halliwell, all paid their individual tributes following the news of Sarah's passing. "We’re planning a night for an event to raise money in honour of Sarah," Nadine, 36, has told OK! "She’s very much in the forefront of our minds. "We want to raise money for a piece of medical equipment that helps diagnose cancer earlier so people can be treated.

We definitely want to do something to help others." Speaking on behalf of her former bandmates, Nadine added: "[Sarah’s passing] still affects us deeply, to think about everything that she went through." She also spoke of hopes for an off-stage reunion with their children now most of the group are now mums. "Obviously, Cheryl has Bear and Kimberley has got her three little ones - Bobby, Cole and Nate - and we were planning on getting all of the babies together a while back but never got round to it,"
