A nine-year-old girl was 'dragged two metres under a car' and left needing facial reconstruction after a horrific crash in Leigh, her mother has said.

Ivy Williams was walking back from her primary school, St Gabriels, with her siblings when she stepped out to cross the road, before she was hit by a car on Richmond Drive, in the Higher Folds area, at around 3.40pm last Wednesday (November 27).

Her mum Cheryl told the M.E.N how her daughter became 'stuck under the car', which moved forward 'around two metres'. She said blood was 'pouring down the street' when she arrived at the scene, before Ivy was rushed to Manchester Children's Hospital. She says her daughter has been left with a number of catastrophic injuries to her face, resulting in facial surgery and reconstruction, along with bruising to her head, clumps of hair coming out, a broken vertebrae, collarbone, pelvis and collapsed lung.
