A school has apologised after a five-year-old girl who was off school following her father's death was sent a book about a daddy and daughter day out.

Quay Academy apologised for its 'insensitivity" after she was sent the home learning which included a book about a daddy and daughter day out.

Mum Stacy Hirst, 34, said she notified the school in Bridlington, East Yorkshire, when her ex-partner died suddenly. She told Hull Live she let the school know she would be keeping her daughter Kendel off for a couple of weeks to grieve, and requested a home learning pack.
