A teenage girl was reportedly burned to death by her uncle after her dad refused to allow her to marry her cousin. Mohammad Yousuf failed to accept a proposal from his brother Mohammad Yaqoob, who wanted 14-year-old Sadia to tie the knot with his son in Chiniot, Punjab, a state in Pakistan.
Yousuf had already promised his daughter to a different relative a few weeks before, reports Gulf News. As a result, the uncle hid in Sadia's empty family home on Friday before dousing her in petrol and igniting her when she returned home.
He then left her alone with her injuries, police said. However, she managed to get outside and attract someone's attention who took her to hospital, but was later pronounced dead.
