A giant solar farm capable of powering 8,000 homes has been given the go ahead. Councillors took two hours to decide whether or not to approve plans from Robert Maitland for the 49.9MW scheme at High Nunton near Borgue.
And after members opted against a site visit, planning applications committee chairman Jim Dempster used his casting vote to give the plans the green light.
The development will feature nearly 45,000 solar panels and case officer Chris McTeir’s report for the committee said it would take 36 weeks to build.
There were objections from 27 people and letters of support from 29. Among the objectors to speak at the meeting was Andrew Clement, who lives at Blackcraig – the farm closest to High Nunton.
