Gerard Butler was bestowed with the honour of running with this year’s Olympic torch – moments before the Greece leg of the Japan 2020 relay was suspended.
The movie star carried the flame from the town of Mystras into the town of Sparta (obviously linked to his role in 300), shortly before the rest of the Grecian leg of the relay was called off because of fears over the coronavirus.
It was the second day of a planned eight-day journey, after the torch was lit in Olympia earlier this week.Seems Gerard got in there just in time!
