Fans are still thinking that George Clooney might return as a version of Batman in one of James Gunn‘s planned DC Universe films.

In case you’re not very terminally online, you may have missed this story and rumor. And to be fair, we do try and ignore some of these wild rumors, but this one has been so crazy it’s prompted DC Studios co-chief James Gunn to respond.

James Gunn took to Twitter on Saturday to deny rumors circulating that George Clooney will return to the role of Batman.The Guardians of the Galaxy director, 56, has taken on a new role as the new studio head of DC Studios alongside producer Peter Safran, and the pair have recently begun making changes to future projects.Due to his new role, the screenwriter has been bombarded with questions about the studio's future, including upcoming casting announcements.One rumor that has been circling is whether or not George Clooney, 61, will reprise his role as Batman in any new DC films.Gunn replied to a tweet that asked: 'Is it true you're casting George Clooney as the new main DCU Batman?' to which he replied, 'Absolutely not.' Brad Pitt was snapped alongside his stunt double on the New York City set of his upcoming Apple thriller Wolves on Tuesday.The Oscar-winning actor, 59, was clad in a black leather zip-up jacket over a collared shirt on the winter evening in Gotham. He paired it with dark grey tweed slacks and black leather shoes, as his stunt double was wearing the same.Pitt remained in the same ensemble he and his costar in the film, George Clooney, 61, donned while shooting the motion picture in the Big Apple on Monday.  Pitt was seen in between takes chatting with his stunt double, while he was seen in other sequences running and leaning against a row of lampposts.  The name of the stuntman on the film was not immediately available, though iMDb reports George Cottle is the supervising stunt coordinator on the motion picture, which is written and directed by Jon Watts. Pitt won the Academy Award for Best Performance by an Actor in a Supporting Role nearly three years ago for his portrayal of fictional stuntman Cliff Booth in the 2019 film Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.Clooney, 61, was also busy filming on the set of the movie Tuesday.

Showtime has given a straight-to-series order to The Department (w/t) based on the acclaimed French espionage political thriller The Bureau, from George Clooney and Grant Heslov’s Smokehouse Pictures, MTV Entertainment Studios and 101 Studios. Clooney will direct the series and also executive produce with Heslov through their Smokehouse Pictures. Production is slated to begin later this year.

Chris McCarthy has been speaking about a franchise strategy for Showtime since he took over the network a couple of months ago. That strategy will include expanding successful series with multiple spinoffs in the mold of the Yellowstone universe as the premium cable network starts its integration with Paramount+ and getting a new moniker, Paramount+ with Showtime.
