In the play, he portrays CBS broadcast journalist Edward R. Murrow, who confronts U.S. Senator Joseph McCarthy amid his pursuit of alleged Communists in the early ’50s.

In the interview, George used the opportunity to speak out against the current state of the government and its relationship with the media. “We’re seeing this idea of using government to scare or fine or use corporations—to make journalists smaller,” he said.
