George and Amal Clooney’s visit gave this Laois hotel a huge boost

The world has all but come to a standstill, meaning a lot of businesses are struggling especially in the world of hospitality, which has been thrown into chaos.

As travel has been restricted in recent months, there hasn’t been a lot of overseas travel from the US which would be a huge part of the business of many luxury Irish hotels.

But for one Laois hotel, it got a pre-COVID boost when a very famous A-List couple dropped by back in 2019. When George and Amal Clooney visited the Emerald Isles in April of last year, they stayed at Ballyfin as George looked into his Irish roots.

According to The Irish Times, the hotel received a massive boost after the famous couple visited. Apparently, its revenue rose to a whooping €5.83 million.
