Gemma Collins is heartbroken following the death of a close friend, who she says was 'like a little brother' to her. The former TOWIE star took to her Instagram on Thursday to announce the sad news and that she is 'taking it easy' with time away from social media.

She apologised to her 2.2million followers for being so quiet on the social media platform recently as she came to terms with the tragic news of Rhys Alan Smith's passing.

In a rather glam selfie, Gem wrote: "Just felt like dressing up to get a cuppa from my fave @pelliccicafe. They make you feel so special and it means so much always." She continued: "I've been so down recently and absolutely heartbroken after my dear friend more a little brother passed away.
