Edward Christopher Sheeran, MBE (born 17 February 1991) is an English singer-songwriter. In early 2011, Sheeran independently released the extended play, No. 5 Collaborations Project. After signing with Asylum Records, his debut album, + (pronounced "plus"), was released in September 2011. It topped the UK and Australian charts, reached number five in the US, and has since been certified eight-times platinum in the UK.

The album contains the single "The A Team", which earned him the Ivor Novello Award for Best Song Musically and Lyrically. In 2012, Sheeran won the Brit Awards for Best British Male Solo Artist and British Breakthrough Act. "The A Team" was nominated for Song of the Year at the 2013 Grammy Awards, where he performed the song with Elton John.

Abcdefu by GAYLE scores a third week at Number 1 on the Official Irish Singles Chart. The fiery break-up anthem holds its place at the top against major climbers like Disney hit We Don’t Talk About Bruno, from Encanto – with vocals from Rhenzy Feliz, Adassa, Stephanie Beatriz, Mauro Castillo, Diane Guerrero, and Carolina Gaitan – which rises two to Number 2, and Lost Frequencies & Calum Scott’s Where Are You Now which also rises two to land at Number 3.

Also climbing the Top 10 is Make Me Feel Good by Belters Only ft. Jazzy, which climbs two places to a new peak of Number 6. Further down, Fireboy DML & Ed Sheeran leap 16 places with Peru at Number 13.

This week’s highest new entry comes from Charlie Puth with viral hit Light Switch (28) which was finally released last week following months of teasers.

Meat Loaf earns two places in this week’s Top 50 following the news of his death last week aged 74. Bat Out Of Hell flies in at Number 31, while I’d Do Anything For Love (But I Won’t Do That) lands at Number 40.
