James and Ruth - who play Smithy and Nessa in the much-loved sitcom - confirmed in May that they had re-joined forces for what they have said will be one last episode of the BBC show this Christmas.
Confirming the news, the sitcom's co-creators posed for a selfie with a 2024 script titled: "Gavin and Stacey: The finale." They have in recent weeks been seen filming the upcoming episode. The filming scenes are a wedding celebration party back in Barry. The shots show Nessa in a flowing black dress, very much in the style of the character with Smithy in an England M&S Blazer.
