Gas network bosses apologise over road closure traffic chaos which 'couldn't have come at a worse time'

Brabyns Brow in Marple was closed last night as part of work to fix a gas leak underneath the road. Work was suspended last week to allow the Tour of Britain cycling race to pass through the area.
However when work restarted earlier this week, Cadent said their engineers discovered that the roughly 100-year-old pipes 'were in need of immediate repairs on a larger scale than first thought.' As a result, Brabyns Row was last night closed between Arkwright Road and Winnington Road. and remains shut Diversions are in place.
