Gary Neville has praised Erik ten Hag, claiming that Cristiano Ronaldo should have to accept a new role under the new manager at the club in the wake of four successive substitute appearances.

In today's 3-1 win over Arsenal he was brought onto the pitch in the 57th minute in place of goalscorer Antony, showing that Ten Hag is not just giving the player cameo appearances and that he values his contributions from the bench.

Ronaldo got himself into numerous dangerous positions during his appearance but was unable to score his first goal of the season.

Having previously expressed his desire to leave the club during the recent summer transfer window, Ronaldo was unable to secure a move away from Old Trafford and could now be consigned to a season on the club's bench.
