Gary Neville has been accused of having a "fertile imagination" by Manchester United legend Brian McClair over after the former captain claimed he change the Old Trafford walk out song.As part of a collaboration between legendary Manchester band The Stone Roses and United a promotional video was put together to reveal how the "walkout anthem" was changed to 'This Is the One'.
Neville claimed in the clip that in the 2000′s he felt it was time for a new ‘walkout anthem’. The club previously used the theme from Rocky and as Neville states: “he was from Philadelphia and not Manchester”.Old Trafford stadium announcer Alan Keegan backed up the claim stating he had asked Neville if he wanted to change the song when he took the armband.
Neville goes on to state: "When the manager made me captain and I knew I’d be leading the team out, I wanted a new song. I wanted us to come out to a song from Manchester.
I just loved 'This Is the One.'However, McClair - who played for the club until 1998 and would return as Director of Youth Academy in 2006 - had a very different version of events.
