Sir Jim Ratcliffe has made lots of progress since taking the helm at Manchester United. The 71-year-old reached an agreement with the Glazer Family late last year to acquire a 25 per cent stake in the club, vowing to take the Red Devils back to the 'the very top of English, European and world football'.
While many supporters are expecting United to fork out millions on new players in the summer, Ratcliffe has insisted that the club must learn to walk again before they can run.
Speaking to the BBC, the INEOS chairman said: "It has clearly been a difficult 11 years since Sir Alex Ferguson and David Gill retired. "It's not switching a light switch.
It's not just a simple short-term fix. We have to walk to the right solution, not run to the wrong one. The short-term issue is we want to get into the Champions League.
