Painting can be a fun, even calming, task that a whole family can get involved in, but it can also be a complete nightmare if luck isn't on your side. From paint splatters on your floor to uneven finishes, there's plenty of things that can go wrong when giving a wall a fresh lick of paint.
And as well as being messy, painting can be time consuming, requiring a good amount of taping to make sure you aren't painting over edges. However, as reported by the Mirror, there are other ways to paint that don't involve as much time and effort.
For example, one DIY expert posting under the username @my_neutral_place showed how easy it is to use a piece of card instead of tape.Captioning the post, the woman, named Mel, wrote: "I've been painting today so thought I'd share my favourite time-saving tips!
No masking tape required!"While painting her skirting boards, Mel slid a piece of card underneath the wood so paint would catch onto the paper rather than her wooden floorboards. Then she placed the card alongside a wall's edge to make sure no excess paint would go on the parallel wall - a method usually requiring masking tape. Finally, she used a piece of card to paint a door's edge.
