Galloway Cricket Club finish second in the league after opponents concede final game

Galloway’s opposition Helensburgh conceded their match on Saturday and although the team were disappointed not to play, it was fantastic to finish in second place in Western Division 2.Plenty of cricket has been played.

Dumfries and Galloway Disability Sport had their second hit about with Galloway Cricket Club which saw a great turnout on August 12 in the scorching heat.It wasn’t the only thing on fire as the team were hitting 6s left, right and centre.

The group’s batting, fielding and catching skills were again put to the test as a traditional game was played at the end in the best spirit.They thanked Galloway cricket club and their development officer Pat and also the ARC who brought a great group along.There will be more cricket beyond the holidays so plenty to look forward to.The club has also been running a softball league on weekday evenings and on Sunday there was a tournament in the afternoon.Organiser Andy Sharples, said: “What a turnout indeed and we were completely overwhelmed by the support.

Over 30 players involved for four teams and with the spectators rounding it up to the 50 mark. Big thank you to Jonny B for taking the warm up, inspirational stuff and certainly got us ready for action.
