Former Top Of The Pops host Gail Porter has revealed she had a run-in with cops while scattering her dad's ashes on a Scots beach.The 53-year-old gave her dad Craig the send-off he would have wanted by returning home to Scotland during lockdown in 2020, although she was left stressed by the experience, reports Edinburgh Live.

After keeping her dad's ashes in an urn in her London spare room, she desperately wanted to return home to Scotland for his final resting place.

When Gail visited Portobello Beach, she was recognised by police.Gail chucked the ashes into the sea and turned around to find officers next to her who instantly recognised her and said she needed permission to spread ashes at sea.However, Gail quipped: "I'm not fishing them out, you can do it," and revealed no further action was taken, reports the Daily Mail.Gail said: "I had my dad in a box and I got back to London with him a day before lockdown.

I was so stressed. I couldn't even get him out because I was going to take him to Scotland but I couldn't travel because we weren't allowed to go anywhere."So I just put him in the spare room eventually because I had enough.
