For over thirty years, pop sensation Gabrielle has been delighting audiences with her phenomenal songwriting and stellar voice, penning a string of chart topping hits, including Out of Reach, Dreams and most recently Sorry from her forthcoming album Place In Your Heart.
But while the singer is no stranger to success, it hasn’t always been the easiest road to megastardom, with the singer revealing one particular challenge in her decade spanning career had been how to juggle her performances with the demands of her children.
Opening up about the difficulties she faced on the road and how she overcame them, Gabrielle told the I Never Thought It Would Happen podcast from Help Musicians: “When I first burst onto the scene it was 1993 and at the time I had my first child, it was 1995." She continued: “Everyone used to say: ‘you always took quite long breaks in between each album.’ And that was because being a mother I wanted to prioritise family and my children - because when you're on the road you miss quite a lot.” Thankfully with a strong support network in place, the singer was able to strike up a good balance between work and her home-life, something which helped to lessen the guilt of her absence immensely.
She added: “Just being able to take time out for me and be able to not feel guilty about the fact that I can't see them - because there are times when you go off and you can't see your kid for a little bit. “Thankfully my mom was always my childcarer, so I was able to do that without going away feeling too guilty.
