Gabriel Jesus rewarded Pep Guardiola with a goal against Liverpool on Sunday after he was handed his first Premier League start since New Year’s Day.
The striker scored his seventh goal of the season to give Manchester City a 2-1 half-time lead before Liverpool’s equaliser 48 seconds after the restart.
The Brazilian has had to play a bit-part role in City’s title defence so was eager to make his mark on the game. He is going for his fourth title since his 2017 arrival at the Etihad, having been part of the squad that pipped Liverpool to the crown by a point in the 2018/19 season.
Jesus finds himself in a similar situation with City having a single-point advantage with seven matches left to play.
