Christopher Hemsworth (born 11 August 1983) is an Australian actor. He rose to prominence playing Kim Hyde in the Australian TV series Home and Away (2004–07) before beginning a film career in Hollywood by taking on parts in the science fiction film Star Trek (2009) and the thriller A Perfect Getaway (2009).
Hemsworth went on to star in the fantasy film Snow White and the Huntsman (2012), the war film Red Dawn (2012), the action thriller Blackhat (2015), the biographical thriller In the Heart of the Sea (2015), the comedy Ghostbusters (2016), and the Men in Black film series spin-off Men in Black: International (2019). His most critically acclaimed roles include the comedy horror The Cabin in the Woods (2012) and the biographical sports film Rush (2013), in which he portrayed James Hunt.
Warner Bros‘ first big splash at its 2024 CinemaCon presentation today was George Miller‘s Furiosa. Taking the stage were Miller and stars Anya Taylor-Joy and Chris Hemsworth, who were interviewed by Warner Bros co-bosses Michael De Luca and Pamela Abdy. “To tell the story of Mad Max, we had to know where every vehicle, every character, every prop, every gesture came from,” Miller said. “We wrote backstories of Furiosa overall these years and Mad Max the year before.
When Fury Road had enough traction, we figured we had to do Furiosa.” The trio showed off an extended first look today. We see Hemswroth’s Dementus, who’s something of white linen-clad prophet.
He’s brought a young Furiosa. They live in, natch, a radical world where we see Furiosa’s mother crucified. “I remember your face and your memory,” says Taylor-Joy’s Furiosa in what is a revenge tale.
Lots of fire, lots of trucks, lots of loud in what appears even more attention to dystiopian desert landscapes, even more than 2015’s multi-Oscar-winning Mad Max: Fury Road. “My mother, my childhood — I want them back,” Furiosa says in the footage. “This is the story of one woman’s relentless commitment to hope,” Taylor-Joy told the exhibitors gathered at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. “We see her go through everything, and that hope isn’t crushed.
