A family has been left heartbroken after a "group of kids" pinned down their cat and attacked him. Tosca the cat had a drinks can launched at him as he was kicked on Saturday, July 1, according to eyewitnesses.
He was rushed to a vet by a stranger who stepped in to intervene and has since been given strong painkillers for his injuries.
Vets believe he has suffered broken ribs and a hernia. Dad-of-three Ryan McHugh, whose family took Tosca in as a rescue cat, told Manchester Evening News: "It's upsetting.
We're all devastated."We almost got him put down at the vets because of the amount of money they said it was going to cost." He added: "You can tell he's in pain - he sneezed and you could tell it hurt him."Ryan discovered what had happened to his beloved pet when he received a call from the vet later that day.
