The father of Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong has previously hinted why his son might not join Manchester United this summer.
The Dutchman, who joined Barcelona from Ajax in 2019, has been closely linked with a move to Old Trafford over the last few days following Erik ten Hag's appointment as manager.
De Jong worked with Ten Hag at Ajax and the former played a key role in his development. It was De Jong's performances under Ten Hag that attracted interest from Barcelona.
The central-midfielder played a key role in the Champions League success Ajax enjoyed in 2018/19, which saw them reach the semi-finals, and he was immediately tipped to flourish at the very top.
