A leading French politician today rubbished claims the Royal Navy could push migrant boats away from UK waters. More than 4,000 migrants have reached Britain this year by crossing the dangerous Dover Strait in small boats.
The Government is examining plans to deploy warships in a bid to curb the flow of illegal migration in the English Channel. An inflatable dinghy carrying around 20 Syrian migrants was met by Border Force off the coast of Dover this morning.
Those on board seen the packed vessel were seen waving and smiling as they were met by the Border Force patrol boat Hunter at 7.15am with the White Cliffs in sight.
