Fraudsters fined for fleecing Blantyre couple over landscaping work

Two fraudsters have been hit in the pocket after a Blantyre couple were fleeced over landscaping work. The unwitting customers paid Peter Heaney, 40, and Patrick Heaney, 29, for a job that wasn't done.The pair admitted obtaining money by fraud in March 2022.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.

Sheriff John Speir was told that the Heaneys, both of Dalry, Ayrshire, have since repaid £2,500 to their victims.The sheriff told them: "It's to your credit that you have repaid this money and the punishment I now impose is modified to reflect that."It is on one view a modest fine to mark the fact that you have committed a criminal offence."Each man was fined £470 which they offered to pay within 28 days. *Don't miss the latest headlines from around Lanarkshire.
