A search operation has been commenced after a commercial plane vanished mid-flight. The Bering Air plane lost contact as it flew over Alaska in the United States.
It was reported as 'overdue' when it failed to arrive in Nome, a remote coastal city in Alaska. It had been traveling from Unalakleet, also in the state.
Ten people were on board the small aircraft, including the pilot. Authorities in the US have been tasked with recovering it.
Crews are frantically working to establish the plane's last coordinates, but weather conditions in the area are so poor that it has limited the ability to launch an air search.
