Frank Lampard insists Chelsea did everything to keep want-away Willian and will hold no grudges if he leaves. Willian, who is 32 on Sunday, is set to join Arsenal on a three-year contract after turning down a new deal at Stamford Bridge and will miss injury-hit Chelsea ’s trip to Bayern Munich.
But Lampard insists that Willian is genuinely out injured with an Achilles issue and maintains he will wish him well for the future even though the Brazil forward is joining a London rival.
Chelsea boss Lampard said: “In terms of being disappointed, certainly as a club we have done everything we can to explain to Willian. "Mine and his relationship is very close and I would have no feeling of disappointment if he does move on.
