Francisco San Martin, ‘Days of Our Lives’ and ‘Jane the Virgin’ Actor, Dies at 39

Matt Minton mminton@variety.com Francisco San Martin, an actor known for his roles in “Days of Our Lives” and “Jane the Virgin,” died last Thursday.

He was 39. San Martin died by suicide, confirmed by the Los Angeles Coroner’s Office in their report, with the cause of death ruled as “ligature hanging.” San Martin played Dario Hernandez on the long-running soap opera “Days of Our Lives” from 2010-2011, starring in a total of 59 episodes.

His character first appears as a thief before being revealed to be investigating a cold case. In the years after his breakout role, he was featured in Steven Soderbergh’s “Behind the Candelabra” with Matt Damon and Michael Douglas.

He was also in 16 episodes of “The Bold and the Beautiful” and seven episodes of “Jane the Virgin” alongside Gina Rodriguez.
